Thousands of dollars raised, hundreds of miles run, scores of books ready to be shipped—but I still have a long way to go!

I want to update everyone on my participation on the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team and with my Book It To Beat Cancer promotion. As you may know, I'll be running the Boston Marathon in April, my training and fundraising is going great (some fun stats below) —but there's a great deal more still to be done.

A number of you have asked why I'm running—I'm running for all those who have lost a family member, friend or loved one in the battle against cancer, including my dear grandmother who lost her fight to lung cancer. While training in the heart of the Boston winter is not easy, it is nothing compared to what I know cancer patients are going through every day—and so I run for them as well. Its 2012, people: it's time we found a cure!!

And speaking of—remember, a full 100 percent of funds raised by DFMC go to benefit the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research at Dana- Farber Cancer Institute. The Barr Program is widely recognized as one of the largest and most successful programs of its kind thanks to contributions from folks like you and me.

In addition, my fundraising is off to a great start; I have raised more than $3,000 toward my goal of $6,000. THANK-YOU to everyone who has contributed so far! For those of you out there who have not yet sponsored me and would like to do so, please make your online gift at:

OR send a check (payable to DFMC) to me at:

Remember to submit a matching fund request to your company to multiply your gift to DFMC. Also, every $40 pledge gets you one of my signed picture books sent to you, FREE. Also, please feel free to forward this note to your family and friends; let's get the word out there! Thank you in advance for your support! It really means so much.

Also, you can follow my training progress, get updates, see goofy pics of me on my Facebook page. Please "Like" this page to add to your Facebook feed: https://www.facebook.com/BookItToBeatCancer and join in the fun.

Please visit my pledge page and donate today! Thank-you once again. http://www.runDFMC.org/2012/scottmhttps://www.facebook.com/BookItToBeatCancerhttps://www.facebook.com/BookItToBeatCancershapeimage_6_link_0shapeimage_6_link_1shapeimage_6_link_2

MARATHON UPDATE!

STATS

Here are some stats since I started training in October:

52 runs for 343 Miles in 4 states (CA, CT, MA & ME )

• I've run for over 50 hours at a 8'44/mi" average pace

• Shortest run so far: 2.76 miles. Farthest run so far: 19 miles (2'57”).

• I've burned approximately 48000 calories

• Over 70 books to be sent out (hoping to begin shipping soon) to those who have pledged at least $40. That's a lot of story time. :)
